Spay and neuter assistance is available through the Animal Rescue Fund (ARF).
About Our Program
The St. Joseph County Animal Shelter matches unwanted animals to appropriate homes and responsible owners. Visit us to choose from a wide variety of dogs and cats.
Shelter Hours:
Monday – Friday
9:00 AM – 4:30 PM
State Law: Stray Hold Periods
Hold periods for stray dogs brought to Animal Control:
7 Calendar Days
With Identification: For dogs with verifiable owner ID (microchip, tag, etc…).
4 Business Days
Without Identification: For dogs without verifiable owner identification affixed.

$75.00
$25.00 spay/neuter bond (returned upon proof).
$40.00 license bond (returned upon proof of spay/neuter, rabies vaccination, and license purchase).
Cats
$35.00
$25.00 spay/neuter bond (returned upon proof).
