Explorers Program

In 1994, the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office was granted a Charter from the Boy Scouts of America to maintain an Explorer’s Post, designated as Post 478.

Who Can Join?

Law Enforcement Career Exploring is open to young men and women ages 14 (having completed the 8th grade) through 20 years old who have an interest in learning more about careers in law enforcement.

Program Mission & Objectives

This program provides educational training and career orientation experiences to help young adults understand the purposes and mission of law enforcement.

Career Orientation

Hands-on experience to help young adults choose a specific career path within the field of Law Enforcement.

Leadership & Service

Opportunities for leadership development and participation in meaningful community service activities.

Citizenship

Challenging young adults to become responsible, active citizens of their communities and the nation.
